History
Established in 1980, Thunder Bay Insurance has grown to become the largest independent broker in Thunder Bay with offices in both downtown cores. Thunder Bay Insurance joined The Superior Group in 2001, which is an alliance of respected, independently owned, insurance brokers in key communities throughout Northwestern Ontario. The owners of Thunder Bay Insurance along with our over 30 staff members are proud to live and work in the communities that we serve. We are honoured to be chosen as the Trusted Advisors to help protect over 10,000 clients, 6000 residences and over 700 businesses.
Philosophy
“The little company that grew” is more than just a slogan, it is a philosophy of treating every client as an individual deserving of the care and concern needed to ensure that they are adequately protected against the perils of life and business. It is a philosophy of doing what is right for our clients and of treating each client as though they are our only client. We encourage clients to make appointments at their convenience to meet with their own personal account manager, and just like in the “old days”, we will meet with clients in their home or business.
As an independent insurance broker, we can choose from many markets to customize insurance packages that best suit each client’s needs.

Thunder Bay Insurance has recently made a commitment to going green. We have implemented internal programs to ensure that we are doing our part for the environment. We are actively recycling on a daily basis and working to achieve our goal of going paperless.
At Thunder Bay Insurance we listen to our staff and are very inclusive of staff in making decisions. Our staff policies are in keeping with the philosophy of “the little company that grew”. We encourage staff to play an active role in the community and encourage continual education to ensure up-to-date knowledge. The success of our staff policies is reflected in the long term service of the staff; many have been with Thunder Bay Insurance since its inception.
