Community Involvement
Thunder Bay Insurance has always had a deep commitment to the community of Thunder Bay and North Western Ontario. In addition to our sponsorships of local organizations and clubs in support of our staff and clients, Thunder Bay Insurance is involved in the following community activities:
Habitat for Humanity
Thunder Bay Insurance has signed on to fundraise on behalf of Habitat for Humanity to reach its goal of building a home by 2016. TBI staff proudly participated in their first build on June 16, 2009.
Habitat for Humanity is a community-based, non-profit organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity spans over 90 countries and is responsible for placing over 225,000 families into new homes around the world. In Thunder Bay alone, Habitat for Humanity has constructed 17 homes since 1994, giving 45 children in Thunder Bay homes of their own and hope for the future.

St. Joseph’s Foundation Golf Classic
Thunder Bay Insurance is excited to be entering its 5th year as a platinum sponsor for the St Joseph’s Foundation Golf Classic to be held September 14, 2009. The annual golf classic helps St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay in raising money to support the Hogarth Riverview Manor.
Hogarth Riverview manor is a long-term care home built and operated by St. Joseph’s Care Group on the Hogarth Westmount site in Thunder Bay. The home supports a full range of programs and services, providing care to elderly physically-disabled adults, those afflicted with Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as the frail with high-intensity medical needs.

Adopt-a-Road Clean-up
Thunder Bay Insurance has now participated in its second road-side clean-up which was held June 12, 2009. TBI adopted the section of the Harbour Expressway between Balmoral Street and Memorial Avenue in 2008 and is proud to be continuing part of cleaning up our community. Management and staff happily team up to get down and dirty to clean up our streets and help maintain a clean and green Thunder Bay.
The Adopt-A-Road Program was launched in Thunder Bay in the spring of 1995. Adopt-A-Road is about more than cleaner road sides; it also saves tax dollars, provides recognition for participating companies and organizations, raises public awareness of the costs of littering, improves the environment, and promotes civic pride and responsibility.

Community Sponsor for George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation’s Clowning for Kids
Thunder Bay Insurance was proud to celebrate its 3rd year as the Community Sponsor for the annual “Clowning for Kids” event held in support of the George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation. On March 26, 2009, TBI staff showed their support by sporting red clown noses in the office to help raise money for children with special needs. TBI has developed a particular interest in assisting the development of the George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation and in addition to its support of the “Clowning for Kids” event has also pledged $15,000.

Other Community Involvement
In addition to the above activities, Thunder Bay Insurance consistently participates in the Christmas Kettle drive for the Salvation Army, donates to the United Way as well as other local organizations,and sponsors local sports teams. In 2008, TBI was the event sponsor for the Motors & Muscles event which raises money for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, and along with its event sponsorship, participated in the Hike for Health in Nipigon which supports the Nipigon Rotary Club and the Land of the nipigon Waterways Development Association. Thunder Bay Insurance has also developed bursaries for both Lakehead University and Confederation College.
